Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups crushed pretzels
- ¾ cup butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
Cream Cheese Layer
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Strawberry Jell-O Layer
- 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored Jell-O
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Crust: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a bowl, stir together the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons of white sugar until well combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish to form the crust.
- Bake and Cool Crust: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 8 to 10 minutes until it is set and golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely to ensure the cream cheese layer doesn’t melt.
- Make Cream Cheese Layer: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1 cup of white sugar together with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the thawed frozen whipped topping until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
- Prepare Strawberry Jell-O Layer: Dissolve the 2 packages of strawberry Jell-O in 2 cups of boiling water, stirring thoroughly. Add the frozen strawberries directly into the warm gelatin mixture. Let it sit briefly until it starts to thicken slightly but is not fully set.
- Assemble and Chill: Pour the strawberry gelatin and strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly. Refrigerate the entire dish uncovered for at least 2 hours to allow the gelatin to set completely.
- Serve: Once set, slice into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy the perfect balance of salty pretzel crunch, creamy filling, and fruity topping in every bite.
Notes
- Ensure the pretzel crust is fully cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
- You can substitute fresh strawberries for frozen if preferred; in this case, add them after the gelatin has partially set to keep them firm.
- For best results, use a glass or clear dish to showcase the beautiful layers.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
