Description
This Slow Cooker Maple Dijon Chicken is a simple and flavorful dish perfect for a hearty dinner. Tender chicken breasts are slowly cooked in a sweet and tangy sauce made from Dijon mustard, pure maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar, resulting in a juicy, delicious meal with minimal effort.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 3-4 large pieces)
Sauce
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Salt to taste
Garnish (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Fresh ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce. In the bowl of a slow cooker, stir together the Dijon mustard, pure maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar until well combined to create a flavorful sauce base.
- Add and coat the chicken. Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the chicken. Use tongs to flip the chicken pieces several times to ensure they are evenly coated with the Dijon-maple sauce.
- Cook the chicken. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low heat for 3 to 5 hours. Cook until the chicken is thoroughly cooked through, tender, and infused with the sauce flavors.
- Garnish and serve. Once cooked, top the chicken with chopped fresh parsley and a pinch of fresh ground black pepper if desired. Serve immediately with your preferred side dishes for a complete meal.
Notes
- Cooking time can vary depending on your slow cooker model; check chicken doneness after 3 hours.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the chicken once cooked and simmer the sauce separately to reduce.
- For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes before slow cooking.
- This recipe pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
