Description

This rich and creamy Pistachio Buttercream is a luscious frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts. Made with softened unsalted butter, pistachio paste, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk, it whips up to a smooth, fluffy finish with a delightful nutty flavor. Ideal for adding an elegant touch and unique taste to your baked treats.

Ingredients

Buttercream Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened at room temperature)
  • 3 tbsp pistachio paste
  • 3 cups powdered icing sugar (confectioners sugar)
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare Butter: Begin by placing the softened unsalted butter in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on a medium-low speed for about 30 seconds to loosen and soften the butter further.
  2. Incorporate Pistachio Paste: Add the pistachio paste to the butter and continue beating for another 30 seconds until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  3. Add Sugar (First Half): Sift about half of the powdered icing sugar into the bowl. Beat on medium-low speed until the sugar is fully incorporated into the butter and pistachio mixture.
  4. Add Remaining Sugar, Vanilla, and Milk: Sift the remaining powdered sugar into the bowl. Add the vanilla extract and milk. Beat on medium-low speed for about 5 minutes until the buttercream is light, fluffy, and creamy.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the butter is softened but not melted.
  • Sifting the powdered sugar prevents lumps and contributes to a smooth frosting texture.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if too thick, or more powdered sugar if too thin.
  • Store any leftover buttercream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Bring to room temperature and re-whip before use.
  • This buttercream pairs wonderfully with vanilla, chocolate, or pistachio-flavored cakes.
