Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini is a delicious fusion dish combining the flavors of classic Philly cheesesteak with creamy cheese tortellini. Ready in just 20 minutes, this comforting skillet meal features tender sirloin steaks, sautéed bell peppers and onions, simmered with cheese tortellini in a rich cream sauce, topped with melted provolone cheese. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 (4 count) package Philly Sirloin Steaks
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning

Pasta and Dairy

  • 1 (19 ounce) bag frozen cheese tortellini
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat and Sauté: In a large sauté pan, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the Philly sirloin steaks on one side of the skillet and sliced green bell pepper and yellow onion on the other side. Sprinkle the Montreal steak seasoning evenly over both the steaks and vegetables.
  2. Cook Steaks and Vegetables: Cook the steaks according to the package directions until done to your preference. Meanwhile, the peppers and onions will cook until crisp-tender. Once done, stir the steaks and sautéed veggies together to mix the flavors.
  3. Add Pasta and Cream: Add the bag of frozen cheese tortellini and 1 pint of heavy cream directly into the pan with the steak and vegetable mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. Simmer Tortellini: Cover the pan and let the tortellini simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The tortellini should cook through and absorb some of the creamy sauce.
  5. Finish with Cheese: Once the tortellini is cooked, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese evenly over the top. Replace the lid and let the cheese melt, which should only take a few minutes. Serve immediately while warm and cheesy.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella or cheddar cheese for different flavors.
  • Adjust the Montreal steak seasoning quantity to your taste preference.
  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Ensure to stir occasionally during simmering to prevent pasta from sticking and burning at the bottom.
  • If sirloin steaks are thick, consider slicing them thinner for quicker cooking.
