Ingredients
Liquid Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- Juice of 1 large lemon
Produce
- 2 large lemons (or limes, washed, cut into small pieces, seeds removed)
- 1 bunch fresh mint leaves (stems removed, about 25-40 mint leaves), plus more for garnish
Other Ingredients
- 2 cups crushed ice
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste; cane sugar or part honey can be used)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the crushed ice, water, cut lemons, lemon juice, fresh mint leaves, and sugar to the pitcher of a high-quality blender. Cover securely.
- Blend Until Smooth: Use the high-speed or liquefy function on the blender to blend all the ingredients until you reach a smooth, drinkable consistency.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the lemonade and add more sugar or additional mint leaves as desired for sweetness and flavor. Blend again briefly to incorporate.
- Strain and Chill: Pour the blended mixture through a mesh strainer into a serving pitcher to remove solids. Add fresh mint leaves to the pitcher for infusion. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serve: If preferred, strain the lemonade again as you pour it into serving glasses. Serve cold and enjoy!
Notes
- Use fresh lemons or limes for the best flavor; removing seeds helps avoid bitterness.
- Sugar quantity can be adjusted to personal sweetness preference; honey is a good alternative sweetener.
- Crushed ice helps achieve a cold and slushy texture.
- Straining ensures a smooth drink free of pulp and bits of mint.
- The lemonade tastes best served immediately or chilled within a few hours.
