Description
A quick and flavorful ground turkey skillet featuring colorful bell peppers and aromatic green onions, seasoned with smoked paprika and Worcestershire sauce. Perfect for a wholesome weeknight dinner served over rice or pasta.
Ingredients
Protein
- 1 pound ground turkey
Vegetables
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Serving
- Rice or pasta (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the turkey: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it up as it cooks, until it is nearly cooked through and just slightly pink inside, about 5 minutes.
- Add vegetables: Stir in the diced red and green bell peppers along with sliced green onions. Cook until the peppers have softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic about halfway through this step (after about 2 minutes) to release its aroma without burning.
- Season and finish cooking: Mix in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook everything together for another 2 minutes to meld the flavors and ensure the turkey is fully cooked.
- Serve: Spoon the ground turkey and pepper mixture over prepared rice or pasta for a hearty meal. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey to reduce fat content.
- You can substitute Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce for a different flavor profile.
- Add crushed red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicy kick.
- For a low-carb option, serve with cauliflower rice or zucchini noodles instead of rice or pasta.
