Description

This Easy Beef Bowls recipe features tender, flavorful ground beef cooked in a savory and slightly sweet sauce with fresh ginger, garlic, and crunchy red bell peppers, served over fluffy jasmine rice. Ready in just 25 minutes, this dish is perfect for a quick yet satisfying weeknight dinner that satisfies the whole family.

Ingredients

Rice

  • 1 cup uncooked white jasmine rice

Beef & Sauce

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Vegetables & Garnish

  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • Optional garnishes: scallions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice: Prepare the jasmine rice according to package directions, ensuring it is fully cooked and fluffy. If you usually prepare a different amount of rice for four people, use your preferred quantity.
  2. Cook the ground beef: While the rice cooks, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and use a spoon to break it up evenly. Cook for about 8-10 minutes until fully browned, stirring occasionally. Drain off excess fat if necessary.
  3. Mix in the sauce ingredients: Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the brown sugar, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, grated fresh ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  4. Cook the bell pepper: Reduce the heat to medium and place the skillet back on the stove. Add the chopped red bell pepper to the beef mixture. Continue cooking for a few minutes, stirring often, until the peppers become tender-crisp but still retain some crunch.
  5. Serve and garnish: Spoon the savory beef mixture over the cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with optional scallions and sesame seeds if desired to add fresh flavor and texture. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to minimize excess fat and make the dish healthier.
  • Adjust sriracha sauce to your preferred spice level or omit if you want it milder.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute tamari for soy sauce and ensure hoisin sauce is gluten-free.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
  • Try swapping jasmine rice for brown rice or cauliflower rice for a different texture or lower carb option.
