Description

This easy baked tilapia recipe is a quick and flavorful seafood dish that requires minimal preparation and simple ingredients. Perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner, the fillets are seasoned, baked with lemon slices, and paired with mixed vegetables for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Fish

  • 4 (4 ounce) fillets tilapia
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®), or to taste
  • 1 lemon, sliced

Vegetables

  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cauliflower with broccoli and red pepper
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Arrange Tilapia Fillets: Place the tilapia fillets in the bottom of the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
  3. Add Butter and Seasonings: Dot the tilapia fillets with butter, then sprinkle garlic salt and seafood seasoning evenly over the fish for flavor enhancement.
  4. Add Lemon Slices: Top each fillet with a slice or two of lemon, which will infuse the fish with citrus aroma and taste while baking.
  5. Arrange Vegetables and Season: Arrange the frozen mixed vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, and red pepper) around the fillets in the baking dish. Lightly season the vegetables with salt and ground black pepper.
  6. Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to keep moisture in and bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot immediately for a nutritious and flavorful meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute the frozen mixed vegetables with fresh vegetables if preferred, adjusting the cooking time accordingly.
  • For extra flavor, try adding fresh herbs like parsley or dill before baking.
  • Use fresh lemon juice sprayed over the fish after baking for an added citrus brightness.
  • Ensure the tilapia is fully cooked by checking it flakes easily with a fork to avoid undercooked fish.
  • To reduce sodium, use low-sodium seasoning blends or omit garlic salt and adjust with fresh herbs.
