Description
This Crustless Pizza recipe offers a delicious low-carb alternative to traditional pizza by using a cheesy ground turkey base instead of dough. Topped with savory keto pizza sauce, mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, this easy-to-make dish is baked until bubbly and golden, perfect for a quick 15-minute meal that serves four.
Ingredients
Meat Base
- 1/2 pound lean ground turkey (ground beef can be used as an alternative)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Toppings
- 1/2 cup keto pizza sauce
- 4 small mushrooms, chopped
- 1/4 cup olives, sliced
- 8 slices pepperoni
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 200°C (400°F) to prepare for baking the crustless pizza later.
- Cook Meat and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add minced garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant. Add the ground turkey and break it apart with a rubber spatula. Cook for 4-5 minutes until there is no pink left, then stir in the Italian seasoning to flavor the meat.
- Add Cheddar Cheese: Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the grated cheddar cheese until evenly mixed with the cooked meat.
- Layer Sauce and Toppings: Evenly spread the keto pizza sauce over the cheesy meat base in the skillet. Then, add chopped mushrooms, sliced olives, and pepperoni slices on top.
- Add Mozzarella Cheese: Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the assembled toppings to create a bubbly, golden crust during baking.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake the crustless pizza for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
- Serve: Carefully remove the skillet from the oven, slice the pizza into four portions, and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground beef if preferred.
- For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes with the Italian seasoning.
- Use keto-friendly pizza sauce to keep the recipe low carb.
- Be careful when handling the hot skillet after baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
