Description
A rich and creamy Crockpot Hot Chocolate recipe that combines three types of chocolate chips with milk and cream, slowly simmered to perfection, making it a cozy and indulgent drink ideal for cold days or gatherings.
Ingredients
Liquid Ingredients
- 4 cups milk (2% or whole)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Combine Liquids: Place the milk, heavy whipping cream, and sweetened condensed milk in the crockpot and stir well to combine all the liquids thoroughly.
- Add Chocolate Chips: Add in the dark, white, and milk chocolate chips to the crockpot, then place the lid securely on top to retain heat.
- Slow Cook: Set the crockpot to low heat and cook for 2 to 3 hours. Remove the lid every 30 minutes to stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure all the chocolate is melted evenly and blended into the creamy base. Note that the hot chocolate may be ready in around 1 hour and 30 minutes, but allowing 2 hours ensures it is fully melted and smooth. If desired, keep on warm until serving.
Notes
- Use whole milk for the creamiest texture, or 2% for a slightly lighter version.
- Stirring every 30 minutes prevents the chocolate from sticking to the bottom and burning.
- Adjust cooking time based on crockpot model as temperatures can vary slightly.
- To make it vegan, substitute dairy with non-dairy milk and cream alternatives and use dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Serve topped with whipped cream or marshmallows for extra indulgence.
