Description

Delightfully festive and easy-to-make Christmas Tree Cake Truffles combine crumbled vanilla Christmas tree cakes with cream cheese and are dipped in smooth white chocolate. Perfect for holiday parties, these bite-sized treats are decorated with red-colored chocolate drizzle and green sanding sugar, creating a charming and tasty holiday snack.

Ingredients

Truffle Base

  • 10 vanilla Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

Coating and Decoration

  • 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts
  • Red food coloring
  • Green sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prevent the truffles from sticking.
  2. Crumble the Cakes: Place the 10 vanilla Christmas tree cakes into a large mixing bowl and crumble them into fine pieces using your hands or a fork.
  3. Add Cream Cheese and Mix: Add 4 oz of softened cream cheese to the crumbled cakes. Using a hand mixer, beat the mixture until it forms a smooth, dough-like consistency.
  4. Form Truffle Balls: Use a small cookie scoop to portion out tablespoon-sized amounts of the mixture. Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth balls. Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Freeze the Truffles: Freeze the shaped balls for 30 minutes or until they become firm. After chilling, you can roll them again between your palms to smooth the surface.
  6. Melt the Chocolate: Place the 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  7. Dip the Truffles: Using a fork, dip each cake ball into the melted white chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Tap off any excess coating and place the dipped truffle back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Prepare Red Chocolate Drizzle: Add several drops of red food coloring to any remaining melted white chocolate to achieve a festive red color. Use a fork or piping bag to drizzle this red chocolate over the coated truffles.
  9. Add Green Sanding Sugar: While the drizzle is still wet, sprinkle green sanding sugar on top to mimic holiday decorations.
  10. Set and Serve: Allow the chocolate coatings and drizzle to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to blend smoothly with the crumbled cakes.
  • Freezing the truffle balls before dipping helps the coating adhere better and reduces mess.
  • You can substitute almond bark with white chocolate chips if preferred, but ensure they melt smoothly.
  • Adjust the amount of red food coloring to get the desired color intensity for the drizzle.
  • Store the finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
