Ingredients
Chicken Filling
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped (rotisserie works great)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Crescent Rolls
- 1 tube refrigerated crescent rolls (8-count)
Creamy Sauce
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Optional Garnish
- Chopped parsley for a pop of color
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking, and set it aside.
- Fill the Crescents: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles. Place a spoonful of the cooked chicken and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese at the wide end of each triangle. Carefully roll up each crescent from the wide end toward the point, fully enclosing the filling. Place the rolled crescents seam side down in the prepared baking dish.
- Make the Sauce: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Pour this creamy sauce evenly over the crescent rolls in the baking dish, ensuring all are coated.
- Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the sauce and the crescent rolls to create a cheesy topping that will melt and brown beautifully during baking.
- Bake It Up: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown, and the sauce is bubbling around the edges. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly for a better serving consistency.
Notes
- Using rotisserie chicken saves time and adds extra flavor.
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup with a homemade white sauce for a fresher taste.
- Feel free to add veggies like chopped spinach or mushrooms inside the crescents for added nutrition.
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions for color and freshness.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
