Description

This Banana Honey & Walnut Sandwich is a quick and delicious breakfast option that combines the natural sweetness of bananas and honey with the crunch of walnuts. Toasted to golden perfection with a hint of cinnamon, it's a comforting and nutritious sandwich perfect for busy mornings or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (white, brown, or multi-grain)
  • 1 banana (sliced into roundels, preferably Philippines banana)
  • 6 walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder (optional)
  • 2 tsp honey (or as needed)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for toasting the bread)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather and slice the banana into roundels and chop the walnuts. Have all the ingredients ready on the counter.
  2. Assemble Sandwiches: Place 7-8 banana roundels on one slice of bread. Add 2-3 whole or broken walnuts on top of the bananas.
  3. Add Honey: Drizzle a generous amount of honey over the bananas and walnuts.
  4. Add Cinnamon: Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon powder on top. Close the sandwich with another slice of bread. Repeat for the second sandwich.
  5. Heat Pan: Heat a pan or cast iron skillet over medium heat.
  6. Butter and Toast One Side: Spread butter on one side of the sandwich. Place the buttered side down on the hot pan. Let it cook for about 1 minute until it sizzles and turns golden brown.
  7. Flip and Toast Other Side: Butter the top side, flip the sandwich, and cook for another minute. Continue flipping and cooking until both sides are golden brown.
  8. Control Heat: Keep the flame at medium to prevent burning and allow even toasting. The aroma of cinnamon and honey will be delightful.
  9. Serve: Remove from the pan and optionally drizzle some additional honey on top before slicing and serving immediately.
  10. Packing for Later: If packing for school or later consumption, let the sandwich sit on the counter for 2 minutes, then slice and store in an airtight container.
  11. Serving Cold or Warm: The sandwich stays good at room temperature for 4-5 hours. For warm serving, microwave it for about a minute before eating.

Notes

  • You can use white, brown, or multi-grain bread according to preference.
  • Cinnamon powder is optional but adds a warm flavor.
  • Use fresh, ripe bananas for best taste and sweetness.
  • Control the heat carefully during toasting to avoid burning the sandwich.
  • The sandwich can be enjoyed warm or cold with equally delicious results.
  • For packing, ensure the sandwich cools slightly before placing it in an airtight container.
